Hummer EV: A new take on the EV of the future

GMC has come out with the new 2021 Hummer EV and it looks like a great vehicle!  After doing some research on it I’ve come to the conclusion that someone should buy it for me.  That’s the only downside I saw to the vehicle which is the price.  At over $90,000, depending on the options you choose, this is not a cheap vehicle.

However, even though it’s not cheap that’s a good thing.  The new Hummer EV really brings the technology and features to the front of the line.  Features like Ultravision, Crabwalk, and Extract mode give you more freedom and confidence to take the vehicle wherever you wish.

Ultravision gives you up to 18 cameras strategically placed around the vehicle so that you can more accurately see your environment and make better decisions about which trail to choose while you are offroading your Hummer EV.

Crabwalk is an interesting feature that gives the rear wheels up to 10 degrees of movement in either direction.  This can help you get out of a jam pretty easily.  I also wonder how much easier it would make parking in a city like Chicago!  Just drive straight into a spot instead of trying to parallel park!  Sign me up!

Extract is a feature that I’ve been thinking about for years.  You already have air suspensions to lower a vehicle, so how hard would it be to create something to raise the suspension on the vehicle?  Well GMC answers that question with the inclusion of a feature called Extract mode.  Once you engage this feature, the Hummer EV raises itself approximately 6 inches to get over obstacles that get in your way.

The Hummer EV is no slouch in the performance department either with a 0-60 time of approximately 3 seconds and up to 11,000 lb-ft torque!  You are also looking at about 1000 hp in the pick-up version and 830 hp in the SUV version according to GM estimates.

All in all, this is a vehicle I would love to own and put through its paces on my terms.  I truly believe that it would handle a Chicago winter with absolutely no problem!
