Is Tesla's Reign Over?

Image
Credit: wired.it   Tesla has been the leading electric automotive manufacturer for almost a decade, but other companies have wanted a slice of Tesla's half-billion dollar pie for a while - and they may have just taken it. Rivian and Lucid Motors are two companies that have caught my attention through their impressive and initial high-quality cars. The R1T has an impressive range of 300 miles, substantial off-road capability, and many other features that are not found on any other car - electric or not. The price seems a bit high starting at $67,500 when the Cybertruck will start at an alleged price of $39,990 for 250 miles of range. While I have not had the opportunity to see the R1T in real life, from what I could gather online, it seems to have much better fit and finish than Tesla, and the interior is a bit more like a traditional luxury SUV. Tesla still makes great cars and I'm sure they are not going anywhere soon, but the lock they had on the market is fading as new EV

All New - All Electric - Ford F150 Lightning

Image
As they say, things can change in a blink of an eye and the new Ford F150 Lightning really demonstrates that in a dramatic fashion. The new truck is going fully digital which is a great improvement over the original. It’s also going to be quicker than the original Lightning! Get this, it can also power your home during a power outage. How insane is that? Being that it’s fully digital, it will be able to be improved through over-the-air software updates. I can’t wait to check one out!

Hummer EV: A new take on the EV of the future

Image
GMC has come out with the new 2021 Hummer EV and it looks like a great vehicle!  After doing some research on it I’ve come to the conclusion that someone should buy it for me.  That’s the only downside I saw to the vehicle which is the price.  At over $90,000, depending on the options you choose, this is not a cheap vehicle. However, even though it’s not cheap that’s a good thing.  The new Hummer EV really brings the technology and features to the front of the line.  Features like Ultravision, Crabwalk, and Extract mode give you more freedom and confidence to take the vehicle wherever you wish. Ultravision gives you up to 18 cameras strategically placed around the vehicle so that you can more accurately see your environment and make better decisions about which trail to choose while you are offroading your Hummer EV. Crabwalk is an interesting feature that gives the rear wheels up to 10 degrees of movement in either direction.  This can help you get out of a jam pretty easily.  I also

MINI Celebrates Production Milestone

Image
MINI has celebrated a production milestone by manufacturing the new MINI for 20 years in the Oxford and Swindon manufacturing plants on April 26th.  In 2001 production began for MINI body parts and has continued through to this date in history. For the past 20 years, MINI has used these plants to make parts for the 2 doors hardtop, the 4 doors hardtop, the Countryman, the Clubman, and now the Electic version of the MINI.  They are still going strong and show no signs of stopping. Through both the plants, MINI employs over 4500 skilled workers who keep production moving to build 1000 MINIs a day, making that about one every 67 seconds.  Which seems amazing to me!  Also, with advances in manufacturing constantly improving, I'm sure that they will get this number up to even more MINIs per day. The Oxford plant is also a destination for MINI owners from all over the world.  The plant offers tours so that you can see the MINI's being built and learn more about the plant. I, being a

Why is the MK3 Ford Focus RS Still so Expensive?

Image
The Mark-III Ford Focus RS first came out in 2015, and it was one of the hottest sport hatchback cars you could buy. Now that the car is no longer being made, the desire in North America is still high, and prices are still close to MSRP for newer models. The RS is an amazing automobile that will fulfil your desire to sound cool and feel fast, while being restrained, cheaper (compared to other sports cars), and blend in with the regular Focus' if needed. This combination makes for a very desirable vehicle that has had its price kept relatively high from a retirement of production, enthusiasts, and desirable traits. Some Focuses can go for around $26k USD, but can go as high as $40k for modded or well kept models. If you are interested in purchasing a Focus RS, I recommend looking on a site such as AutoTempest to compile your search.

I am a Cars & Bids Veteran

Image
As many of you may know, Doug DeMuro's website Cars & Bids has been around since June of 2020, and I signed up for an account only a few days after it launched. Well, calling myself a veteran is overblowing it a bit. While I have been on the site since June 2020, I actually have never place a bid on a car, and haven't started commenting since last month. I have been observing auctions along the way, and this is not a promotion for the website in any way, but Cars & Bids is an amazing site to buy cars. There have been so many interesting automobiles at almost every price point, and it fixes the most annoying part in traditional car buying sites - the lack of photos. This is not an issue on Doug's site as every seller is required to post many, many photos that detail all parts of the car. If you are looking to buy a cool car instead of a bland A to B transporter, absolutely check out Cars & Bids.  Find my account Here
